Our story
Darkfire began through drum and bass, and was originally conceived by a DJ duo – Phate & Kanza.
A chance meeting in an online forum, and realising we lived only two streets apart, led to long sessions on the decks and fuelled the motivation to discover and share the best new drum and bass tracks and artists with each other – and the world!
After many years of creating unique musical blends, Kanza (aka Matt, aka The Sauceror) began to experiment with fermenting hot peppers back in 2017.
The first sauce proved to be an instant winner with family and friends, and frequent practice provided a steep learning curve as the experiments continued. As with DJing, Kanza is almost entirely self-taught in the dark arts of fermenting.
Fast forward to today in January 2023 and Darkfire Hot Sauce is days away from our 1st anniversary since registering as a food manufacturer.
At the time of writing, we are Birmingham’s only five star rated hot sauce producer and are fast becoming known for simple ingredients fermented to create bold, complex flavours.
The Darkfire ideology embraces the desire to stand out from the crowd, taking everyday ingredients and applying our unique set of skills to create something unparalleled.
